I've had four new trucks. 3 of them went 150,000 + without me touching the fluid. This one I changed the pan fluid and filter and it died at 128,000. Maybe just pure coincidence or ***** luck, but I don't think I'll bother changing the fluid from now on.
Maybe its just cause I'm really pissed off right now.

Pan-drop partial change every year is what I do. An automatic transmission takes a lot more of a beating than an engine. (and most owners change the daylights out that oil) Bought the van pan with the drain plug so I wouldn't have to take the xmsn fluid shower every time.

I know it hurts when a part fails, but it's highly unlikely a fluid change caused the failure.

It'll be interesting to see how the newer "sealed" truck tranmissions hold up as they age.

Where'd you get the tranny pan with a drain plug? I've been looking for something like that.

I recommend simply dropping the pan and replacing the filter and gasket. I don't really care for full transmission flushes.

OEM part #= F8UZ-7A194-AA , about $50.00 online. Fits perfect on either 4R70 or 4R75.

It's normally on van transmissions and not trucks. Why, I couldn't say. A lot of guys just drill a hole and weld a bung nut and install a plug/bolt, but I don't have a welder.
