Yes that is exactly what It seems like. The rumble strips is a good way to describe it. Do you think it's a good idea to get a kit such as the one I posted below to replace the 3 solenoids since I'll be in there?

Also anyone have advice on what kit may be the best? I wanted to try and keep everything motorcraft but I'm having a hard time finding such a kit.

In my opinion I would only replace the faulty solenoid. By nature solenoids are very durable. I could look at my invoice but as I remember the solenoid alone was around $20. Of course they also had to change the fluid and filter. Are you planning on doing this work yourself? I'm not comfortable enough to tackle this type of service and I know sometimes you're money ahead if a specialist diagnoses the problem and then repairs it. This is of course is dependent on the shop and how reputable they are. I'm sure a different shop may have suggested a rebuild for mine. At the end of the day it depends on your comfort level. Some may say to change all solenoids and perhaps that's not a bad move. I'd also mention again that my technician mentioned some plastic ***** that are in the valve body. He said those ***** have been updated since 07. All I can say is that my transmission has been serviced every 30K and truly does feel good as new to me.

Yes I plan on doing the work myself. It doesn't appear to be too difficult of work. I wanted to change the transmission fluid and filter anyways bit I guess this gives me even more reason to do it sooner than later. I have an 08 so I'm assuming I have the updated ***** lol.

The rumble strip thing may be the LSD. Have you change the Diff fluid or added Friction mod? The Friction Mod cleared my rumble strip issue up after a couple of weeks.

No I haven't changed any fluids. I just bought it from a ford dealership back in may. I'm not familiar with the friction mod.

The truck is completely stock.

Ok, sorry for the late response. Just wanted to give an update on my issue just in case someone else was having the same symptoms. Unfortunately, switching out the TCC and shift solenoid did NOT help. A friend of mine that works on cars took it for a test spin. Of course it wouldn't act up for him too much but it slightly did the grinding noise once. After what I told him the truck was doing he strongly agrees that it is the torque converter.

He had me do a test. Start out in first gear and switch to 2nd gear when needed and see if the issue happened. It did not. Also when in Drive and coming to a stop, when the grinding noise started throw it in Neutral...it stops.

After these findings, I too believe it is the torque converter.

So im looking into replacing the torque converter. I will be taking it to a transmission shop and seeing if they can at least confirm that it is the torque converter before me and my buddy drop the tranny.

I was trying to find the part number though. Now my truck is equiped with the 4R75E transmission and according the officialfordparts.com the part number is 7209 or 7l3z-7902-grm. Its hard to find a torque converter with this part number. I noticed though that autozone has the Dacco tranmission reman torque converter part number F60 that they claim fits my truck. Is this true?

Thanks for reading and will try and keep you updated!

I'm also having the random Rumble stip noise. Be interested in the final result.

Is this the Friction Mod mentioned?

Use any full synthetic 75W140 fluid.

Then go to the Ford dealer and ask for a 4 oz bottle of limited slip diff friction modifier, C8AZ-19B546A

Saw this in another forum:

Try adding a couple bottles of FoMoCo friction modifier before you think about replacing the clutch packs.

Mine was shuddering at about 28000 miles. I tilted the axle up on the side that has the fill plug, dumped in the two bottles of friction modifier, drove a couple of figure 8's and no more shuddering!

Default Update fixed!

After my friend and I replaced the torque converter to no avail i about gave up. I remeber oming across a TSB that mentioned most of my issues. I looked it back up and priced out the parts. It cost me about $20 for the gaskets and pack of check ***** from ford. My trans fluid was basically new from previous work so i reused the fluid.

SO HERE WAS THE PROBLEM!

It was check ball #7 just as the tsb stated. It causes an uncommanded tcc apply. The one circled is the #7 check ball location.

So i followed the JMOD video for disassembly and reassembly. Obviously skip the actual mod procedure. But here is the link to the JMoD video
https://youtu.be/gbIAKfhrdV0

I have attached the pdf for the TSB report as well. After reinstalling new check ***** my truck is running perfectly again! Hope this helps others!

Default Check *****

I got that converter shutter a couple times and then my truck stopped engaging any gears at all. Has anyone gone thru this? Could it still be my *****?
