I'm sorry but after three trans in my mustang and still having shifting problems and now three trannys for the truck I have concluded ford really sucks.

My volvo had over 300000 miles on original trans and motor never should have sold it. It wad an 89 before ford bought volvo out
then sell your cars and get civic.

Can it be something else? Is it possible that the trans wasnt the problem in the first place?

I did have a trans shop give me a second opinion before getting the new trans and they told me the same thing the dealership did.. Bad torque convertor and some other trans parts. need rebuild..

NO MORE AMERICAN cars EVER..... this is the most rediculous thing I have ever experienced and its one thing after another... Now a $3000 repair gone bad.. Sure as hell be covered under warrenty.
Review other threads for low grade misfire. I had the same symptoms usually at 40 to 50 mph, i thought it was the tranny and my dealer was ready to take it apart, my problem was a coil on #6 cylinder. It took about two months for the problem to get bad enough to finally produce a check engine light.

I certainly understand your frustration. I too would be upset if I had a transmission replaced, only to have the same symtoms after only 5k in miles on the new one.

Before you do anything irrational, take the truck back to the dealer that did the replacement, and have them look at it and allow them to make it good.

It's rare, but it's possible the second one had a problem too. The strange part is that you mentioned you had 3 transmissions fail in a Mustang as well?

Wanna hear something funny. I just posted a private message to Miklowcic cause I noticed while reading this thread that he owned an 03 cobra and and 04 FX4, and I own an 03 cobra and an 05 FX4 I just bought used. Anyway, Miklowcic sorry I didn't read this thread more clearly to notice that you are the one not happy with Ford and then this guy with the same cars emails you how much I LOVE FORD (but not the service dept's and parts pricing). My Cobra has 113K on it and I shudder to say the tranny is just fine as far as I can tell. My new (used 55K) 05 FX4 however, has me concerned.

After driving it 2 weeks with no trouble at all, I started to take off one day very slowly and the tranny dropped from 1rst to 2nd. really quick and then into 3rd, and maybe even OD before reaching 20 mph. As you can imagine it then sputters badly to drop back down into lower gear to the truck will accelerate. If however, I roll to a stop instead of accelerating, I hear a noise from the rear end it sounds like and a slight vibration. Does'nt sound so good. Then a week later, major vibration in seat of pants when making truck go from OD to 3rd from 55-65 mph. They said that was harmonics in exhaust and tell me it's corrected, but they are avoiding the initial shifting issue that I think is the root problem.

I just don't trust my dealerships service dept. and it's my own fault for buying from them. Guess I kinda asked for it.

Miklowcic, I'm sorry for troubles you've had. Nobody deserves that bad of luck. I can only hope I don't start having that kind of luck. Heck, with what I'm going through right now with my truck, I feel used. I will say they are helping me out on a used car, but it started failing after only 2 weeks of ownership. The tranny and motor are only things under warranty with some company called , BG, because they put their product in engine and tranny with flush. I'm beginning to wonder if this process has caused problems with this truck since it was done after person traded it up to them with 54K on it. Some believe in this "flushing" and some don't. I hear more critics than supporters of it.

I do feel I would be pretty fed up with Ford too if I had been through 3 tranny's on 2 cars.

so you trans goes out at 104k miles, then you have troubles with the rebuilt which is still under warranty? so your conclusion is ford's are junk because a rebuilt tranny is acting up? and your mustang went thru 3 trannies? was it modded? i don't care who you are, if you have a mustang you beat on it, that's why you buy them. if you think ford is junk because of the listed reason, you sir are a moron, and i am glad to see you go back to driving a crappy 20yr old volvo

the only thing that i think ford makes is just, is the new diesel 6.0's, a shame they wrecked a good truck

the new diesel is a 6.4L, it needs the federally mandated DPF removed and a good tune.

your right my bad, typo, but still they aren't as good as the 7.3's, just like the cummins, emissions are killing the diesels.

7.3 was a hell of a engine, not all 6.0 or 6.4s are bad, my unlces new 6.4 is pretty stout, and my grnadpa has a 6.0 thats been good to him
