I'd say yes, but I strongly suggest you go to a dealers parts department and ask them if these transmissions are one in the same before you buy.

Normally the 4wd trans is set up to accept the transfer case. 2wd is just set up for the driveshaft.

This is why I should not answer these questions... I was unaware that the transmission cases are different between 2 and 4 wheel drive.

Thanks for the education.

X2 on the transfer case being in the way. I guess if the tail shaft of the 2wd tranny will unbolt and bolt up to the 4wd (where the transfer case was), you shouldn't have any problems as long as the transmission mount is in the same place. BUT definitely go and get on hands advice.

May want to check on the 4x4 4.6 exploders and expeditions if you cant find an 4x4 F150 around there. Not sure if they'll work, but may be worth looking at.

Found THIS on the 2wd/4wd difference, says output shafts are different and you'd have to do a full teardown. This is on an exploder, but I'd assume the 150 is the same.

I think you guys are right that it won't fit without changing the output shaft. I've done that on a chevy 350 turbo. You can just cut the shaft off with a chop saw. After it is all tore down. Not much fun tearing down a aod tranny. I get lost in them. Ha ha. Thanks for all the replies. You guys are awsome !
