Default Trans temp

Purchased a camper a few weeks ago and I went camping. I noticed that my trans temp went up 50 degrees is that normal. My normal trans temp is around 150 it was 200 when towing the camper. I have a 2004 fx4.

That's fine dude I am pretty sure your good till about 230 or 250 or so.

Normal operating temperature is 175 Max for a tranny to last to 100k there's a chart you can Google that shows trans temp and how long it will last, my normal no towing is 140-150. I had mine up to 234 driving down the beach and the tranny went out the next week. But it also had 100k miles and I'm pretty sure the fluid was never changed. Do you have the tow package? With the trans cooler?

Yes I do have a transmission cooler. I'm going to add a fan to it see if that helps is there any other way to help keep the temp down? I have 140000 miles on my truck.

Have you been keeping up with transmission fluid changes? That helps, and just hope for the best, ease into the throttle.

Keep it out of OD and dont use the cruise control. I dont ever see any more than 190 pulling my 30 foot TT through the hills.

it also depends on how accurate, and where your temp sensor is located....is it in the pan? the return line? i would expect to see temps like that right out of the line going to the cooler...its fresh out of the TC where you see your highest temps.

I'm getting the temps from my edge cs programmer. I purchased the truck 2 years ago I have not did anything with the transmission. I guess I should get a transmission flush and change the filter.
