Default Trans fault but truck drives fine?

Truck gave me a trans fault message on the dash then the OD light started to flash. I was like oh great here we go! But the truck drove fine. I got home parked it and let it sit for a few hours. Got back in it later that night drove it around and it felt normal. There were no trans fault messages or flashing OD light. I took it to autozone and they didn't find any codes. I plan to take it to the dealer and have them check it out. Question is the autozone code reader crappy and can't read trans error messages or is there really no codes stored? Truck has only 55k miles.

mine did that when I overheated the tranny all they did was turn the truck off and start the truck back up and cleared everything up. Checked the Ford dealership and they said just don't run it so hard I was pulling a big trailer

Did the dealer find any codes? Autozone didn't find any on mine but I wonder if the dealers scanner tool looks at more stuff. I was not pushing the truck just driving normal about 55mph. It was about 85 degrees out. Truck drove fine today.

Take it to the dealer. Autozones scanner cannot read that deep in the system. If it said transmission fault and the od light flashed, there is a code stored.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking the code readers autozone uses must just do the basic "check engine light" stuff. Truck is going in Monday morning so we see what they say.

Took the truck in and they said the code was torque converter performance or something. They said they want to check the #8 check ball in the valve body. They were short of man power today so I need to reschedule a time for them to check it out. I have a powertrain warranty and paper says everything inside the transmission is covered so I should be good.

Took the truck in yesterday and had them go through it. They said fluid looked good and clean, No metal shavings in pan, Pulled Valve body and checked all check valves. Everything looked good. When they checked the valve body gasket they said they found a split in the gasket. They installed a new gasket and put everything back together again. They test drove it and couldn't get it to shudder. I'm guessing a split in the gasket could cause the pressure to fluctuate in different areas of the valve body and cause the trans to do weird things? I hope this solves my intermittent shudder issue. Time will tell.

I just had the same thing happen to me yesterday , Trans Fault, OD light, and the Wrench icon on the dash, I assume is the check engine light. I don't know if the drivetrain is covered under my extended warranty, or if that stuff is covered. I'm at my wits end with this truck. I have a 2004 SCrew that I bought almost a year ago from a dealership. It now has about 87K miles, and when I was driving it yesterday, I was driving normally, maybe only 35-45mph and the AC was on.
