Biggest reason to go with a reman unit is warranty, most Ford dealers won't even consider a rebuild anymore since the Ford Powertrain warranty is so good.

Doublecheck with the shop that has it what their warranty is and how it works. Ford offers a three year, unlimited mileage parts AND labor warranty on powertrain and it doesn't matter who installs it.

I'd be more than happy to give you a quote on a reman trans if you're interested, just need your VIN.

^^^^^ worth looking into

My only question would be if it is back to original spec or if the known issues have been resolved (weak reverse band for instance). Most trans shops are certain to upgrade known issues.

The only issue I have is that I have to go through the extended warranty place that I got with the truck. So we will have to see what they'll cover, what they won't, and if I can pay a little extra for some upgraded parts.

The only difference between the dealers warranty on new/reman was 3yr new & 2yr reman.

Any updates and improvements found since the vehicle was built get incorporated into the reman units.

The Ford reman system is exceptionally good which is why they can offer the warranty that they do, I'm not aware of anyone that backs up their reman products with a warranty like Ford has.
