Default Tranny?

hey guys, i have a 2005 XLT 5.4l with 147k mileage with a brandnew motor, i have noticed that on a slight incline of a hill at approximatley 45mph (41-46mph) on the slight incline my truck will kick, as if its missing a gear or not grabbing or something. i was wondering if my whole tranny is starting to go and will need a rebuild or if its just a certain part? what ever you think it is would it be an easy fix to do myself? i have the Lucas stop slip bottle at home waiting for it to warm up a little to add it to my tranny fluid, but before i do. i just wanted another opinion on what i should do.

THanks!!!

When was the last time you changed your spark plugs?

Try dropping the pan and replacing the filter and topping off with fresh oil. Sounds like it's just your torque converter unlocking, which is normal but it shouldn't be real harsh.

Are you sure your not experiencing a miss? Have the COP's ever been replaced? A bad COP will reveal its self on an incline and under a load, more than once this has been misdiagnosed as a transmission problem.

Torque converter unlocks at around 45mph stock. I dropped mine last weekend and it jerked/slipped in first a couple times from a dead stop then finally it got its pressure right i do believe. Hasnt happened again. I'd try changing the fluid. New filter/gasket. When i got the truck i had it changed, i had them fill it 3/4 of the way with Merc ATF, then the rest with lucas. All my shudder's and rumble strip issues went away shortly after.

Mine was just doing the same thing due to a misfire... wouldn't throw any codes either until I finally had it misfire bad enough on the one cylinder. Changed the COP for that cylinder, no problem since. It might not be it but mine was definitely kicking (but staying in the same gear).
