Default Trading in a truck?????

Any salesmen on here that can chime in and tell me what the trade in value on a 2007 Harley f150 in excellent condition with 70,000kms is worth??? I'm looking at trading it but I still owe some money on it, not sure how the whole process works. I think they take the amount you owe and put it on top of the new vehicle loan??

It depends on how much u get for the HD.. If there is a balance left over after trade in the will tack it to the top of the new truck..

I had an offer from a guy to trade my 08 F150 with 28K for an 06 F250 with 74K. Can I just trade straight up or would I have to get a loan to pay off my auto loan and get a hold of the title?

By the way, the 06 has 4x4, the 6.0 with ARP head studs, EGR delete, MBRP exhaust and a S&B stage II intake, SCT Tuner and a 6"lift with 35s. My 08 is a 2wd with a 4.6L, so I'm down to trade.

You can use kbb.com to get a general idea, although actual will more than likely be lower. If u are upside down, where u owe more than u get for trade in, that amount would be rolled into the new loan. Usually they raise sales price and the give u more for the trade in to make it work for the loan.

U will have to pay current loan off to get the title and then get a new loan for new truck, unless the bank can pull some strings for u. Sounds like a really good trade for u. Straight across or plus some cash? Just be aware that u may have to pay sales tax for the trade if u are financing it. Dmv wants their money and if u say u traded it, they will take fair market value and charge sales tax on that. Greedy they are.

The guy wants just a straight trade. He said that his wife just got pregnant and theres no way she can get in his truck when shes about to pop, so I'm making out with this deal. I'll just go to the bank and ask for a personal loan to pay off my auto, then get the title and trade for the diesel. If it works, I'll post pics of the 250!

^ KBB.com X2 ^ Great comment, pretty much right on. The trade in you would get even if it was paid off will be significantly less than what the dealer would want. In all reality, he does it to make money too. Go on KBB or another site and you will get a good starting point. (How he can come up with a price for a vehicle with so many mods I can't figure out.) The number you get from the dealer for your vehicle (trade in) will be less. The trade in is where he will make his money if he shaves down the asking price significantly, whether you have a loan on your car or not!

Be careful of straight trades. Take the 250 to a certified mechanic and have it inspected! It is worth the money spent. Besides, how many guys would get rid of a truck and not make other plans? Like another car for her, or use hers?

The first thing I would do is get it inspected. I know the 6.0 has a TON of problems, our shop would get at least one every week(I used to work at a ford dealership) and the mechanics hated repairing them. I have to say though, I miss having a lift and 4x4. On my '99 I could go anywhere and with my '08 its kind of sluggish. Upgrading to a huge diesel would make me very happy
