Default Towing a Toyhauler

I am looking into getting a toyhauler to haul my 2010 RZR around and then have a nice place to sleep at night out of the elements. Now I have been searching for a while and have narrowed down the TH that I would like to get. The only item that concerns me is the weight.

Dry Hitch Weight861 lb. (391 kg )Unloaded Vehicle Weight6,004 lb. (2,723 kg )Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)7,861 lb. (3,566 kg )Cargo Carrying Capacity1,856 lb. (842 kg )Exterior Length24 ft. 7 in. (7.5 m)Exterior Height12 ft. 0 in. (3.7 m)Exterior Width96 in. (2.4 m)Fresh Water Capacity51 gal. (193 L)Gray Water Capacity32 gal. (121 L)Black Water Capacity32 gal. (121 L)Awning Size14 ft. (4.3 m)Tire Size205/75D/15

It says it weighs 6,000 dry, and I know that my RZR weight around 1K. I am concerned that this may be too much for my F150. I know I won't win any races. My truck is a 06 F150 XLT 4x4 SCREW with factory tow package and 3.73LS gears and trans cooler.

I would install a WDS hitch but again still a bit concerned. The only item I tow now is a 16 foot utility trailer with my RZR on it, probably around 2000-2500 pounds.

So is the TH I am looking at too much for my F150? Thanks.

Id say it can be done. A few days ago I saw two F150's pulling huge 5th wheel campers on the highway that probably weighed alot more than what you want.

Think not only about your dry weight, but loaded weight as well... My man has a Weekend Warrior FS3400- about 13,000lbs dry, but about 16,000lbs with water tanks and gas tanks filled...

Try to find a smaller TH... 24' on a TT is pretty good, but add all the extra stuff in with the TH and I think you will be having serious pucker factor in heavy winds and going up and down hills...

Yeah, my man's dad has a 19ft WW Superlight that he pulls with his Chevy 1500 with the bigger v8 (and it has trouble pulling that!)... Definitely do your homework. TH's are awesome, and I wouldn't give ours up for anything. Good luck in your search, and let us know what you come up with =)

Damn, that is what I was afraid about. I have another in mind that weighs in at 4K empty, but heck I don't know.

Toy Hauler 22TH
UVW (Unloaded Vehicle Weight) 4,130
Dry Hitch Weight 820
Dry Axle Weight 3,310
NCC (Net Carrying Capacity) 2,870
GVWR 7,000
Interior Height 78"
Exterior Width 8'
Exterior Length 24' 5.5"
Refrigerator (cu. feet) 5
Water Heater Cap. (gal. G/E w/DSI) 6
Fresh Water Cap. (gal.) 40
Waste Water Cap. (gal.) 32
Gray Water Cap. (gal.) 32
LP Gas Cap. (lbs.) 40
Furnace BTUs (1,000's) 16
Tire Size 14"
Awning 12'

I might just end up trading the F150 in for a 3/4 ton truck, but that prob won't fit in garage.

How many are going to be going in the TH??? If it is just you and the wife (or GF, or you, GF and wife) then I would say the smaller one should be fine... I would take the RZR to the dealership and try IT out in the TH also to make sure it will fit...

We don't have a problem with our RZR fitting in anything (my man's TH, his dad's, brother's, etc...) So the height I wouldn't worry about unless it has an aftermarket cage on it or something... we do have 2 TRyx's that are almost too tall to fit though. The RZR is a bit shorter...

And as for trading in the truck, if money is not an issue, go for the 3/4 ton or even the one ton . My F150 is never used for towing... that's why we have the F350

We actually went to the dealership this weekend and test drove the new F450 dually Cabela's edition We really had to restrain ourselves, let me tell you...

Raider, I meant for width and length more than height... On those smaller TH's it gets kind of squishy between the couch and dinet, etc...
