Default Towing question help please

so im going to be helping a man pick up a scout that weights 3800 pounds and tow it back to his home. total distance is around 160 miles one way. i have a 2004 supercrew lariat with the towing package. will my truck have any problems hauling that weight of the truck +trailer? he will be renting a u-haul car trailer so i am not sure what that weight will add up to. is this too much weight for my truck?

You'll be fine. My travel trailer weighs about 5500lbs and I do just fine. Just shut down the OD.

just make sure the trailer breaks are in good shape, if not you will need a lot more room to get it stopped

So long as you have the 5.4L and kick it out of O/D you shouldn't have a problem. I've pulled 7600 pound skid loader behind mine without a problem, just takes a little longer to get up to highway speeds. And as TYM1 said, make sure you have trailer breaks!

before you make the drive to get it call u haul and see if the trailer has electric breaks or surge breaks. if they are electric you will need a break controller, surge you won't
