Default Exhaust advice

In the process of looking for a new exhaust system. Kind of new to it all so I don't know a whole lot. I know that magnaflow and flow masters are a good brand but that's about it. Was wondering if y'all minded to tell me what I should go with and why. Also, I've heard a lot of people talk about catbacks (spelling) and was wondering what that was.any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

I can help. I have had 2 f150's. both were 2006. On the one 2006 f150 fx4 I had dual flowmasters. It sounded good. But was made cheap. And felt cheap.

On my other 2006 f150 larait. I had the magnaflow single outlet. It is absolutely amazing. It is built very strong. All stainless steel. And sounds throaty. I recommend the magnaflow. Price is definitely higher. But the quality is superb and sound.

modular engines make more power with a flow thru muffler like a magnaflow over a flowmaster. plus a magnaflow has a cleaner sound.

If you go to you tube, you can pull up a bunch of different clips of different systems.

Love my Corsa exhaust. Excellent quality and a nice tuned sound instead of sounding like an 80s farm truck with holes in the exhaust.

Cat back means the exhaust is from the catalytic converter back.

If you do a search look under "Goodbye Dynomax Hello Borla" and you will see my Borla Cat-Back exhaust thread. The previous owner put on a Dynomax cat-back, dual rear exit that was a piece of dog s**t. From personal experience on my current and past vehicles I recommend the following manufacturers:

Borla
Corsa
Stainless Works

Agree, I haven't had Borla on my F150, but I did on a previous vehicle. Borla is top notch and worth every penny. Much like Corsa, the quality is unmatched by the less expensive brands and it is a tuned sound, not just loud. It sounds almost like you have a built motor. I helped a friend mount his MBRP cat back on his Sierra, and he helped with my Corsa, it was very clear which exhaust was made better and why mine cost more. You get what you pay for.

The only reccomendation i would make would be to go with something with a flow-through style of muffler as mentioned before such as Magnaflow, Banks, Borla and some others. Blowmasters have baffles inside which hinder the flow of air through them. They also tend to "crackle" more than the others.

I haven't seen an MBRP up close to inspect it's construction. I always pay attention to the details such as the beads of the welds, rivets if applicable, type of material used etc. I have only seen a few MBRP exhausts in person and they were on diesels.

I honestly would have preferred Corsa over Borla for my F-150 just because I like the sound of the Corsa more. But both are top notch. I was searching for a Corsa exhaust for my truck before I bought the Borla but they didn't have a dual rear exit.
