Default Tires for 2008 F150 XLT 4x4

I'm in need of new tires for my truck. I've got a 2008 F150 XLT 4x4, with a 5.5' bed. The tires I have now are P255 / 70 / R17. I'm wanting to put the largest tire size I can get away with, without having any rubbing or modifying the truck at all. Anyone know how large I can go?

Thanks!

I'd limit at a 285x70x17 which is a 32.7 tire...anything larger you would have to level the truck. Most of these are LT rated tires.

answer to your question is 285/295...without a level kit.

If I go with a 285 or 295, will it effect my gas mileage much, or cause any extra strain on my engine? Also, would my 17" wheels handle a 285 or 295 okay?

Thanks!
