Default tire and wheel size ?

Have any of you guys put a 325/65-18 on your 18" wheels? If so any problems?

The only reason I ask is I want to put that size on my FX-4 but that size of a tire they recommend putting it on a 9 to 10 inch wide rim and the factory 18's are only 7.5 inches. I'm not sure if its really a good idea to do this so I wanted to know some other opinions.

The tire wil fit on the rim but the narrow rim width will force the tire to "bubble out" in the center of the tread. That will cause the tire to wear the center faster than the rest of the tread.

Ok, Thanks for the info.

If I ran a little less air pressure would that help with the bubbling?

A tire the size of 325/65/18 comes out to be 34.6.... which without a lift will rub your tire on the wheel well. I have a 2004 FX4 i put 325/60/18 which come out to 33s and they look great. they are the perfect size for an FX4 without much of a lift.

The tire should have a tread width of about 13 inches. Try to picture that sidewall brought down to 7.5 inches. It might look a bit narrow. Talk to your local tire shop to see what they think, but I would recommend getting a wider rim. It Ain't Custom Till It's Rubbing
