So, the stock wheels(17 and 18") are 7.5 inches wide with 5.5 inches of backspacing. The bolt pattern is 6X135mm.

Does this make the factory offset +32?

I've been using this calculator to try and figure out how far different wheels will stick out. http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/info_specs.jsp

Default Good info in this thread BUT.....

Hi all, firstly lots of great info in this thread. But the answer i'm looking for has not yet surfaced so here's the question...I want to put 325/65 18's on my stock 18" rims. 05 FX4 4X4

I am not woried about fitment on the truck as I have installed a lift n level and my nephew is a machinist so if I need extra spacing help its no biggie. What I am concerned about and cannot get an answer about from any of our local tires guys about is...Has anyone ever run a tire this large on the stock rims?? Any problems or concerns?

TIA and again, great info on this forum, but I prefer turning a wrench to a scroll wheel so be gentle

You need a 9-10 inch rim for a 325/65/R18

edit:
I referenced http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

Default thanks!

That link is great, finally have a site with a calculator that not only gives all the pertinent sizes but also reccommended rim widths, most excellent!

BUT....it still doen't answr my original question. I am now aware of manufaturers reccommended rim vs tires sizes, my question remains...has anyone here mounted tires this big on their stock 18x7.5 rims???

according to the tire calculator on 1010tires.com it says for a 285/70/17 I would be OK with a 7.5in rim but if I wanted to up it to a 295/70/17 I would want an 8in rim.

could I get by with 295/70/17 on my stock rims? I know it is slightly bigger than 33" (33.25") but I plan on doing at least a 2.5 in leveling kit

If the wheel specs are not listed about you will more than likely have to run 31s or even smaller to avoid too much rubber and trimming. These specs are the basics for tires fitting well but you could run 33s if the specs are very similar but you will face bad rubbing.
There is a lot of helpful information on this site, but do not see much info for stock 2wd.

I have a 2004 XLT 5.4 2wd without a leveling kit. I am interested in 20" wheels, but am confused as to what is the largest tire I can use without rubbing issues, leveling, or modifying in any way. Does the quote above apply to my situation, and can I run 33s without rubbing or leveling? Would 275/55-20 work?

And what is the offset I need for 20" x 8.5" wheels? (I don't mind the wheels sticking out an inch or so)
