275/55/20 is the stock tire size on a 4wd. If your a 2wd with 2" leveling kit that is all you can fit. If your 4wd you can fit the 33"

If you have stock wheels it won't rub, if your wheels have some offset it may rub a little. Gears aren't necessary, and correct your speedo with a tuner.

275/60/r20 nitro terras going onto stock rims, and I'll prob end up getting an edge tuner down the road so hopefully it doesn't throw the speed off to much in the mean time

That will fit fine and the speed won't be off much. I waited for a month before I got a tuner to adjust for my 33". You'll be off by about 5mph

You will be fine. I have 35x12.50x17 on my stock truck. I have very minor rubbing at full turn. So if you have a leveling kit, you should be just fine.

Default 2006 fx4

I have 295/65/20 Nitto Trail Grapplers (35.4") on my stock 20" wheels with a 2.5in leveling kit. I had to put an 1/8th inch spacer on the front wheels in order to get the tires even bolted and they still rub at about 80% turn either way on the front frame. There is just enough clearance on the upper control arm to put my pinky finger in. I did have to trim about a 2inx2in square on the bottom corner of the valence so they will turn in but that wasnt a big deal at at. Lost a ton of power with these monsterous tires so that is going to be my next issue once I get feel like its a problem. Point is that you can fit 35in tires on the 4x4 FX4 with the 20" wheels but you will need to do a little tweaking. The tires have an agressive side tread so that doesnt help at all. Hope this helps. Heres what she looks like.

Thanks, and yeah I did paint them myself. There is a guide on the forum somewhere about painting stock wheels black and it was spot on. I took a trip to Advanced Auto and got the stuff I needed and it took a full day. The fuel mileage went from like 17 to 15 on the highway(atleast thats what the Edge is reading). Still not as atrocious as I thought it would be though. Good luck with the 33's. Definitely a good choice. If I had to drive farther to work and cared about my turning radius I would have went with the 33's. haha.
