Using aftermarket wheels you can run 35s on a 4WD if the wheels follow these guidelines:
-For an 8" wide wheel the backspacing is 5.5 inches.
-For and 8.5" wide wheel the backspacing needed is 5-6 inches.
-For an 9" wide wheel the backspacing is 4.5-5.5 inches.
If the wheel specs are not listed about you will more than likely have to run 33s or even smaller to avoid too much rubber and trimming. These specs are the basics for tires fitting well but you could run 35s if the specs are very similar but you will face bad rubbing.
For a 2WD truck and after market wheels you can run 33s with wheels that fit withen these specs.

I read this whole thread...So much information my brain can't process it all...So I have a F-150 4x4 SCREW...Can I run 20x9" Dick Cepek II's wrapped in 35" Nitto mud grapplers with a 2.5" leveling kit... I would trim...I don't know what to do about backspacing though. any info would greatly help...

I have a 2004 fx4 i can run 35x12.5x18's on my truck with a 2.5" leveling kit without rubbing? Sorry i read the first couple of pages and believe it is possible but wanna make sure btw stock rims.

Ok i've been at this aftermarket rim thing for way too damn long. I've read the guide but it still all seems gibberish to me. Can someone put this into dummy terms for me please. I have a 2008 F150 4x4 17x7.5 chrome clad wheels and wanna get rid of them. Tires i have on now are 275/65/R18. I dont have any lifts on the truck trying to keep it stock in that respect. Im looking at getting 17x8 rims. I was told by a aftermarket wheel dealer that i need to stay within the factory offset 20 -40 but he never said anything about backspacing and all i keep reading here is about backspacing and nothing about offsets. Can someone tell me what i need to be looking at in the rim specs for a 17x8 rim to work on my stock truck? Would be very much appreciated

I'm new to this and I've read almost this whole thread and though I've narrowed it down I'm still uncertain about what I want. I have a 2006 XLT super crew 4x4 and I'm going to purchase a HBS 2.5 leveling kit and I'm leaning towards 295 70 18 nitto terra or trail grapplers with 18x9 black fuel gauge wheels with 0 offset. I would love to hear personal experiences with trail vs terra. Does anyone have any pictures of a similar setup and any thoughts on if there would be any rubbing?
