35x12.5R17 will definitely not fit a stock 4x4. You will need at least a level to clear those tires. There are a lot of posts in this thread so can't blame you for not reading the entire thing, but the first post is pretty informative, it gives some really good guidelines for what will fit.

Good luck!

I've got an 07 super crew with a leveling kit and I'm looking to get bigger tires, I'm leaning towards 35's but don't know if i should go 12.5 or 10.5 and any suggestions on the brand of tire? right now I'm thinking cooper stt's but i haven't looked much farther then that.

I'm assuming you're 4x4? The 12.5 should fit per the guide. I'm getting either 33x12.5R20 STT's or 35x12.5R20 Atturo Trail Blade MT's. The aggressive sidewall (like on the trail grapplers) is what messes people up on the 12.5 because it makes it measure somewhere in the 13" range. The STT's have a milder sidewall so you should be fine to run a 12.5.

DirtRoadKid, just wanted to make sure you read the post correctly, RED5.4 was asking about 35x12.5R17, not 33x12.5R17. I'm pretty sure your MTZ's are 33's right? I remember your truck as it's a nice looking rig, I could have sworn you were running 33's.

A 33x12.5R17 will fit a stock 4x4 without a level, but 35x12.5R17 needs at least a 2" level to fit. If DirtRoadKid stuffed 35x12.5R17 MTZ's under a stock 4x4 I will be shocked and he would be the first person to successfully get those tires to fit, at least to my knowledge.

RED5.4 I would still strongly advise against attempting to put 35x12.5R17 tires on a stock 4x4, in the vast majority of cases this will not work. I am running 295/70R18 (34.26x11.61) on my 4x4 with a 2.5" level and still had to trim my front valance to get them to fit, granted I am running an after market wheel but I am positive a 35x12.5 tire would not fit under my truck without a level.

I have also read about some people having rubbing against the upper control arm with a 35x12.5 tire on stock wheel, this seems to be an exception rather than a rule as there are lots of people running that size on a stock wheel, but it's worth mentioning. It really depends on how aggressive the tires are.

I was running Toyo M/T 33x12.5xR18's on my 2006 F150 KR SCrew with stock 18" wheels, WITHOUT any lift or level. They ran without issue or rubbing, but I could not even slide my pinkie finger between the tire and the upper control arm - it was that close. I really loved those tires, but they looked smallish after I put the Rancho Quicklift shocks.

I JUST replaced my tires with 295/70R18 Toyo A/T 2's (XT). These tires are slightly more narrow, so I can now slide my finger between the tire and control arm. So no issues there. But like you, it's barely catching my front valance. Strangely, it's on the right (passenger) side only, and by just a fraction. In forward it's not a big deal, but in reverse it really snags it.

I do not want to trim the valance, so I am going to try and shim the bumper out a bit.

personally I think if u want 33's or 35's on your truck then u should get a leveling kit....just because I have seen so many ppl try to do this without a level done, and they have to do all kinds of trimming and everything...but if u don't mind doing the extra work and trimming etc, you can fit those tires...also u don't really realize how many times u have to put your truck at full lock until after u get the bigger tires
