Tire size verses Rim size question...
I'd really like to go with a 38x15.5R18 once I add a 3" body lift on top of my current 6" ProComp supension. However, I am running on 18x10. When looking at the manufacturers specs, I see where the Toyo M/T and the Nitto Mud Grappler 38x15.5R18 limitations on wheel size is 11" to 12". Yet I have heard some say 38x 15.5's are fine on 10" rims.
So I'm looking for some experiences with 38x15.5 on 10" rims out there.
And what about tire pressure adjustment if you have to lower the pressure due to the 10" rim?... how does the tire wear?
Whatcha think guys??

Beads on tires are actually kind of a cool thing because they allow the tire to seal properly with just a tiny amount of rubber. The beads themselves lock the tire and rim together with air obviously, and the bead can stretch and recede quite a bit. I'm not sure on the tolerance level in inches from how wide the tire can be versus the size of the rim. I would say though the rims are made for a recommended tire size. In short you are going to have quite a different ride because those wide and big of tires aren't really meant for those rims. You run the possibility of the beads being overstressed, and the tire can become a lot weaker because the bead may not sit properly.
Not much of a tire guy, so maybe someone with more knowledge can be of use. Personally though I would go with 32"s or so and not 38"s.

Thanks for the input BolletuH. Unless I get a ton of input from experience out there who have indeed mounted 38x15.5's on 10" rims with great ride and success, I'm thinking I'll go with the 37x13.5's.
