I was going to get the Silent Armor until the guys at Discount Tire pointed me towards the DuraTracs. They are much better looking and have better rain and snow traction if you compare them... they are only slightly louder on the road. But i would probably stick with the Goodyears. BTW the manager has them on his truck and he said on cold mornings due to the Nylon in them there is a flat spot that will be a little bumpy on the road till they warm up.

Wow, a flat spot until they warm up. I don't think I would get that tire if that is true. There would have to be a ton of good things about the tire to ballance out the flat spot problem. Hmmmmm.

I like my silent armors!
I put the goodyear s/a on before I drove from Buffalo ny to Chicago. I got stuck in a big snow storm while going back home from Cleveland to Buffalo. The poor visibility caused me to drive off the ridge of the road and I had to jerk the wheel hard to climb back up the ridge. This happened over a dozen times and I didn't fishtail at all. I was in 4x4 going anywhere from 10 to 50 mph. I originally wanted a more aggressive tire, but that usually leads to a lower mileage warranty, poor wear, and road noise. I have about 2000 miles on the tire now so it is to soon to tell how it is wearing, or how good it is in the mud. Also, all wheels have 1 ounce or less on any side of the rim, so the tires are well balanced. I remember my mt/r's had a ton of weight on it. I also paid under $1000 out the door for all 4 with road hazard which I thought was pretty good for 17" wheels. I think I paid over 1200 for my 16" mt/r's. The s/a's have a 50,000 mi warranty.

The procomps also have a 50,000 mile on them. Has anyone seen their MPG take a hit when putting on a 285/75/17 tire on these trucks?
