I've heard great things about the Timken bearing set up.

Got the Centric hubs off. On both hubs, the bearings (inner and outer) wiggle around in the races. I can stick my finger in, and pull the bearing in and out a bit (approx 1/16th"). There's also greasy residue around the inner hubs. Not sure if the wiggle is normal, because the 295 lb/ft torque would keep them tight in the races. Still doesn't seem right.

New front hubs/rotors and pads on. No more groan/growl. The Centric hubs had been getting noisy for the last 5-7K miles, so that means I only got about 25K miles out of them before they started to fail. That's unsat! Thanks to all the 'it's the bearing' fellas that offered their advice. I admit it was hard to believe they failed so early, but lesson learned.

Zero it down to it before you go out spending money for no reason

I've already replaced them with the OEM style rotor/hub. I have a road trip to Tampa on Wednesday, and I didn't want to risk complete failure far from home. I don't have a press to put in new bearings in the Centric hubs if I could find them. Also, my confidence in that system is pretty shaky right now. Those bearings died way too early. My truck is quiet once again, so I'm happy with that. I may keep them and check into having new bearings put in, but I'll probably junk them and the rotors.

I wouldn't junk them.

I've got them set aside for now. I'll look into what it takes to have the bearings replaced. My guess is that the original bearings were junk. If not that, then maybe it's a crap design, and new bearings aren't the answer. Wish I knew before sinking more money into them. I know quite a few people are very happy with the Centric conversion. I wasn't so lucky.
I'll hunt for the bearings. I'm sure someone has replaced them...hopefully with better ones, and they're happy with the replacements.

I hope you have better luck than I did.
