Default TIRE BALANCING... Beads or Weights???

Hey All,

Just got some sweet 35 inch ProComp Extreme All Terrains and new 20 inch Diamo rims.

Took 'em to the shop to be mounted and the guy recommended using "tire beads" to balance them instead of weights.

Does anybody have any experience or opinions on these beads? How well do they work and are they worth the extra $$$??

Thanks!

i have tried them, they sucked IMO, unless the shop didn't know what they were doing. i had a lifted ranger flareside on 33's, i couldn't keep the truck on the road at 65, i would stick to stick-on weights, tried and true method

I run the beads in my motorcycle tires and they work great. The shop where I get mine has a jeep and the only way he could get his tires on the jeep to run smooth was to use the beads. The amount of beads per tire depends on the size of the tire. Here is the web site.http://www.innovativebalancing.com/

Thanks for the link. I'll try to see that later. I am still trying to contact my dealer for such things.

those would be the only reasons i would use the beads. im not saying yours are out of round or bias ply b/c they are neither. lots of jeep guys have tried them. they are only good for the worst of cases of bad balance or bad tires. Most of the time people i know who have used them put them in and immediately remove them. alot of times the beads start to clump together and make one side of the tire very heavy making it even more unbalanced. get a good reputable shop to balance them. they also makes these disks that you put on before you bolt the wheels up. centra something they are called. meant for rv's but the offroad community have statred to use them. ill try and find a web site for them
