Time to buy headlights, Projector w/ hid or??
Hey guys so its time to buy new headlights. I am going to go with a black housing for sure, and I wont be doing it myself. Probably going to do the ebay option and seal them myself. Here is my issue.
I was thinking HID, but most say the stock reflector looking headlights with HID's is not a good idea. This would mean I would have to buy one of the projector ones I assume correct??
Or do I go the LED route, and does this mean I can run without projectors and get the black housing, with sort of the stock look??

I would think about it, but I dont wanna run anything red on my truck. Also I am not a HUGE fan of the projector look, but I will do it if I have to. Thats why I am asking if LEDS are fine to run without getting projectors.

hhhmmm, so it will come down to the look I want then. Seems LED's at least from the place people get them from here, I think its f150leds, are close in price.
I really want to get rid of the yellow halogen bulbs, makes cars look super old to me. I love the white look of a factory HID, but if LED is similar and I can go without the projector. I guess at the end of the day, longevity is going to be the real selling point for me then. I will have to figure out which will last me longer then, I will have to make some calls it looks like.

Retrofit projectors are the way to go! Its more expensive but better in the long run. You can run LEDs but get good ones that have some sort of cutoff. Some of the LEDs that have 2 sides appear to work. Most 2 sided LEDs have one side for dim and both sides for bright. The proper way to use those is to have the dim only side up so they reflect down and away from other drivers eyes.

I would be purchasing them from f150leds.com, so I would hope they would be sending me the correct ones. I have been reading though, and I guess this will always be a huge debate, but really does seem like LED's will last longer then HID's.

LED headlights are still being perfected for aftermarket applications so just because some one says they're correct doesn't mean they actually are. I don't remember who but someone on here bought some from that f150leds.com and really liked them. Said they had good cutoff.
Im currently running these.

I have stood in the road with my truck coming at me and it was no worse than any other vehicle with halogens. They seem to be good so far. Had them for about 2 months is all.
