Default Throttle body issues?? P2111 & P2104

First off let me say that I know this is beating a dead horse and I know that there are several other threads related to this - but I read until I went cross eyed and couldn't locate the answer that I am looking for...

'05 F150 4x4 5.4L

I am experiencing a similar problem that many others have reported....

Just driving down the road - various conditions - my truck goes into what has been referred to 'limp home' mode.

I have disconnected the battery to clear the codes and now it seems to be worse - truck actually 'failed' 5 times in the course of driving 20 miles.

I have resigned to the fact that I need to change the throttle body. A couple of questions after this comment - I will do what ever I can to keep from going to the 'stealership'

1.) I have found a throttle body online from bbk - if I buy this do I use the existing TPS off of the original throttle body? or does it come with a new one. - I don't want to spend the time/money to replace the throttle body and then need to go through the headache of needing to replace the original TPS.

2.) does anyone know if I can still connect my existing airbox to an aftermarket throttle body? I would like to go cold air at the same time - but my current finances won't allow it.

3.) I have only been able to find the BBK aftermarket throttle body online - is there another one that I can purchase or will the dealer sell me one of the OEM TB outright or will they have to install it.

4.) any know how much an OEM TB is from the dealer?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I don't see any reason why the dealership wouldn't sell you a throttle body.

The stealership haha.... tell me about it!
I am getting charged $850 to replace the throttle body sensor and some canister valve or something like that idk wtf.... I got tired of replacing stupid parts and takin my truck to local mechanics to try to fix the (limp home) mode, so i just took it to the dealer, at least the job will have warranty and would be well done.

Interesting that the OP and I had the same problem in Feb a year apart...lol

Same thing just happened to my 05 F150 KR 4x4...codes P2111 and P2104 as well as a message telling me the vehicle is in Fail Safe Mode.

Ended up having to replace the Throttle Body, local service shop charged me $475 for the repair.

Hoping this may have been causing me some fuel mileage issues too, as I've noticed the overall mileage had dropped to 10.6mpg

Could have done without this $$$ repair.

I bought a TB today from the dealer parts dept. Lists for $309..plug and play with the TPS and TACM included. I too hope that this helps my 'idle only' and gas mileage issues.

I also had Limp Mode problems that got worse over a period of a week or two. P2104, P2111, & P2112. After reading quite a bit, I replaced the TPS but no better at all. Finally got so bad that as soon as I touched the throttle it would show the wrench and limp mode.
Had already cleaned the MFS and the ETB and they were very clean. Checked the connectors and wiring and everything seemed fine.
Frustrating.
So read a bunch more and decided I was going to have to spend the money and get a new ETB next... But didn't want to spend that much money.
As a final option, I took the ETB drive apart and found the DC motor had very dirty armatures. It was tricky, but gently pulled the brushes back and put 600 grit sandpaper in front of them in a very tiny piece. Using the brushes, I pressed the sandpaper against the Armature gently and twisted and twisted the DC motor spindle. Took three pieces of sandpaper to get most of the black off the Armature. This was rather tedious and you have to be gentle. Also tricky to get it all back together, but after PCM reset, reassembly and starting the truck, and going through learning procedure, it ran perfect. Yay!
Just wanted to pass this on to those of you that know much more than I do. Hope it may help you understand why the error codes trip and the engine becomes useless.
