The OEM throttle body can already support big HP numbers if the engine is naturally aspirated. As techrep implied, unless you're adding a supercharger, the stock TB flows plenty of air to meet the needs of most any bolt-on mod.

The stock 75mm throttle body which has an 80mm opening flows around 800cfm. Standard calculation is it takes 1.5cfm's to make 1hp. So 800/1.5=533hp.
My truck is super charged and I found and measured restriction in front of the throttle body developed at 11psi of boost and 4000rpms up. Which would be right in the 550hp range.
That's when I ported the Whipple to match the new 90MM Ford Motorsport throttle body and went to a 4" intake setup. Should give you some idea about when a throttle body is needed.

Ha! I say bring it on. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Flowmasters belong on 80's Camaros on blocks in the trailer park. Horrible product and even worse flow. I know there are people who like them and that's fine. To each his own. These are the same people who think thier Honda and Yamaha Crusiers "sound just like Harley".
