Default Thinking about a supercharger. What can I plan on...

I know they are expensive, but i have a gryphon and it is just not doin it for me. I am looking at going with the whipple intercooled. Do I need to plan on going in the motor and changing pistons and such. Or can I bolt on. I have 197000 miles. Oil is changed everg 5000 miles. Tires are 35s nitto trail grappler and 3 in level.

2005 Lariat with the 5.4 also do not run CATS but have 2 1/2 inch pipe going to an EMB muffler...

I'm not saying you shouldn't do it but is it worth supercharging a engine with almost 200,000 miles

You will be putting WAY to much stress on your motor with that many miles.

The amount of $$ you spend on the Supercharger plus labor will cost as much as your truck.

Is it worth it?

You're going to want to rebuild your motor and beef up your transmission. Then chances are your rear dif will blow apart.

Not trying to discourage you of course, it's something I would have loved to do myself. Just be prepared to spend twice what the truck is worth or more when it's all said and done. It's doable though and if you really like your truck, it's something to think about.

I agree with all the above.. if you want better performance just re-gear. Adding a SC would be freggin awesome BUT just spend 2k$ and regear for better performance

My 08 has 93,000 Km and I just threw on a Procharger with 10psi. I bought it second hand from a truck that was written off in an accident and parted out so it was pretty cheap. It's your truck so I think you should do what you want to it but with any big upgrade like this you do put a lot of risk of major problems
