Default Thinking about getting a chip

Can someone please tell me what a chip will exactly do for my 04 I have heard they are worthless can some on shed some light in this?

Chips are for salsa = Yummy!

What you want is a tuner/programmer ( same thing, just called both ).

What engine do you have?

For an 05 4.6, you can expect about 11-13 horses to the wheels and 10-15 feet of torque in real world. Remaps the transmission so shifts smoother and quicker and adjusts the shift points as well which is typically the biggest difference people see when adding a tuning for day to day driving.
