Im looking at a nice 2007 Ford F150 Fx4 w/51,000 miles on it. Its a red extended cab with the bucket seats and a sunroof. Im wondering what you guys think about these trucks in this year, i heard the later ones had problems with the spark plugs breaking off and could cost alot of money to fix. Did they fix that in 2007 or is it still a problem? Just let me know what you guys think, a good truck or stay away. Im trading in a 97 f150 4x4 off road w/112,000 miles. Did the quality and reliability go up or down from my 1997?

I have an 07 Black Screw FX4 with 50,000 on it. No problems other than a small whine in the rear Pinion Gears.. Fixed for free under existing powertrain warranty, thats good for 60,000. Changed my plugs a week ago and had no breakage, dealer said before 70,000 miles the carbon doesnt have much of a chance to build up. Love my truck and highly recommend it. Some 07's that were built later in the year came with the new one piece plugs. Go ahead and get it and see if you can get them to change the plugs out as part of the sale.

Yeah, late 2007's had the different plug. Mine was an early 07 so I'll deal with that myself. Apparently, the 07's was the best year for the trannys, or so I've heard.

I have an 07, how do you know if it was built early or later? Can you tell from the look of the plug if it's one or two piece as it sits in the cylinder head?
