Default Thinking about an 05 Lariat Super Crew

I found an 05 with 72K on it. It looks perfect from ten feet away, engine has no mechanical noises. It seems to drive well no trans issues, new tires.
the only option I can find that it doesn't have if the Visor garage door opener.
Leather, sun roof, memory power seats, power adjust pedals. It even has the power rear sliding window.
Finding it hard to resist at 17K, dealer won't budge on the price. It IS a nice Truck though. Opinions?
BTW, New forum member. I already own a 2009 that I use stricktly as a work truck, I love that truck. the new 150 would be a weekend/ travel and camping truck. Thanks.....Bill

Actually I don't because the one you mentioned has a sunroof. Either way I think $17k is too high. For its known engine issues incl. plugs, timing, and exhaust manifold leaks, I'd say $14k or $15k tops.

2 or 4WD? There's about 2K difference on price per NADA.

Either way though, I'm about 14 tops... You can find way better deals for a truck that's 11 years old.

Thanks, I've been looking for awhile, Craigs list, auto trader, even ebay, 14-15 even from private sellers won't get anything under 100k that has options and looks good. I looked at some "good deals" and they have all had flaws, usually engine noise.
The nicest two that I found were 05s for 14K, one had 116K on it and the other 107K, with few options. Tough to find this truck in Cal much cheaper.
Another 05 with 78K on it, private owner wouldn't budge off 17K.
Getting tired of looking frankly. Having people waste my time when they aren't honest about the condition of their truck, drive an hour to look at it and it crap.
I know you say the price is too high but I just don't see anything better out there.
I've been looking for weeks.
I'm well aware of the problems with these trucks, it's hit or miss but if I can find one that was taken care of, it should increase my chances of avoiding some of those problems. Luck is the residue of preparation.
Thanks for the opinion, Do you like your truck? how many miles?
Its a 4x4

Just bought my 2007 Lariat 4x4 crew with all options you listed plus Nav and the visor. It had 98k and I gave $16k. Just a reference. I did a lot of shopping before I pulled the trigger. The used truck market is ridiculously high. Good luck.

Where in Cali are you located? I'm near Sacramento and I agree that here prices are pretty high on used trucks, especially 4x4s.

To me, the truck is worth whatever you are willing to pay. If you like it, buy it.

Holy crap tho... 17k for a 11 year old truck. Personally id go for a 2009-2010 FX4 for that price. Or even an 2011+ XLT with the newer motor/trans. Even of you were to get a 09+ your at least grtting the newer 5.4 which isnt all that old. And does 20-30 more hp then the 04-08.

Unless youre the type of person that purely likes the older body style. None the less 17k seems high but if youre willing to pay it anf want it go for it. Best of luck

I paid 13k for my 2wd 08 super crew with 97k on it. Power everything. No memory seat or visor buttons. Everything else it has though. Including sunroof and power slider

Just as a reference I just bought my 07 King Ranch with every option but Nav, sunroof, and homelink with 125K for 15K A little high but everything I found had it booked at 18K. I think its high because of the king Ranch with fancy leather and rear seat entertainment TV, 20" wheels, ect. This was in Nebraska out in the middle of nowhere so were generally a little bit high on price out here.

Edit: Also you never know about the timing issue. I 100% never heard it before I bought it, with hours of test driving and several mechanics checking it over. About 1 month after I purchased it and it sure has the timing problem now. DAMN STEALERSHIP!!!!
