I guess what it comes down to... is what's your long-term plan?
Something about his truck is telling me..keep yours, or spend the money it would take to fix his, and step up to a nicer 07-09.
I agree, either keep yours OR if you just want a different truck tack on what you figure it would cost to fix his and get something better for a little more up front but with less headache of fixing someone else's mess ups.

I'd keep your current truck, it looks to be in great shape and extremely clean. You can get leather seat covers and put a moon roof in for about $1000. The cost of fixing the bumpers and front fender would cost more than that.

I wouldn't take his word on the cam phaser issue. I've heard this time and time again and I thought I was done. I was 99% convinced my truck had the cam phasers starting to get load. I would get a stethoscope and put it on the front top of the valve covers and listen for a klanking. I did this, except I use a wooden broom stick. I found that the injectors were load I replaced the left bank of injectors, it got Sooo quiet. so I did the plugs, and PPacks & injectors all around and it runs quiet as a mouse. It sounds just like the cam phasers. But if you can determine that it would make the deal almost bare able his truck is not well cared for, I would ask his or look for the oil change sticker. If he hasn't been running 5/20w oil "No Deal" His needs $2000 in here and there work. Are you prepared to fix that stuff, IF the MOTOR is good. If the motor is good and you fix all the minor stuff you can sell it before it hit 150000 and get you a lot more truck than you ave now.

OP, What makes you want the newer truck? To me, his truck reflects how he cares for it..... I wouldn't trade down to a abused truck reguardless of year.

Iif hes willing to give his newer, better equipped, slightly less miles and newer truck for yours...what does that say about his truck? (No offense) your truck is nice, just keep it.

OP...didn't you own a 04-08 5.4 3v and recently trade it or your current truck? Thought you didn't like the 3V because it was giving you problems but now you want it back? I wouldn't trade for tht grey truck, it's too beat up.

Can't deny our model year looks sick with lift and MTs! Maybe why he wants to back in one.
