For an even trade? That's tough though your model year is more mechanically sound than his, and price wise his is worth more. That's tough unfortunately the mileage on each is about the same. Have you ever checked out the value on each? How bad is the tick on his truck? Have his plugs ever been changed? Has he done proper maintance, oil changes and whatnot?

Now I may be wrong but aren't you the guy that doesn't nothing but brag about how your truck is superior to our model year? Who even owned the 3v and traded down to a 2v saying you hated the 3v and now, which I may be wrong, your talking about going back?!

I never said my truck was better than no ones. I said I liked the 2v better. But If I was to trade I would replace the cam phasers.

The way I see it is this:
You probably know your current truck inside and out. It is a DAMN GOOD year model to own in good shape as yours appears to be. Your truck has full four doors (if that matters to you). Your truck has no dents (none that I could see).
So I know I would not even think about trading for a truck with dents all in it and cam phaser problems. Especially with that high mileage. Spend money on your truck. You can cat skin leather your seats for 600.00 and put a moon roof in (not sure what that cost).
Keep your try k man, you have the better of the two. The other looks and sounds like a money pit.

I wouldn't do it. Buying/trading for a high mileage truck is a gamble as it is but it seems like theres a reason he's trying to trade a newer truck for an older one with higher mileage.

I feel like you're going to spend a couple grand right away, making it yours, and fixing all those little imperfections, which you know will drive you crazy, till they're fixed.. Seems like he's into trading, seeing as he to took an fx4 and turned it into a chrome xlt...that you'll be forever explaining to your friends that know better.
I guess what it comes down to... is what's your long-term plan?
Something about his truck is telling me..keep yours, or spend the money it would take to fix his, and step up to a nicer 07-09.
