I'm stock everything, 211k and smallest rear end ford had in 97. So it will pull but it's slow as *****. But I am talking about a truck that's 3 years from being considered a classic in the state of Texas so.

It was probably just around 4500 lbs. not exactly 4500 tho

Overdrive was off. I live in Florida so there is no grade it's all mostly flat. Fuel is from BP and its just regular 87 octane. Temp was around 91 yesterday and it was kind of humid. I'm am unsure if the altitude here in central Florida. I live almost at the base of the Lake Wales Ridge and its the highest (or one if the highest) parts in Florida but its all pretty flat.

I know I'm not gonna get great towing with 35 Toyo M/Ts. And i know lots of things could have affected it. But my dad pulls it with his Ram 1500 2wd (hates the truck, wants an ecoboost f150) and its stock and you can't even tell that the thing is back there.
Do a 0-60, it should be within 7-9 seconds, any slower I'd say you have sensors blocked/dead or something wrong or clogged like this guy:

I have the 4.6 in my truck and it does struggle to get going but can tow a boat no problem. My mom has a 2006 Expedition with the 5.4 and it tows better than my truck

Something is definitely wrong. I have a 5.4 and 3.55 ls with about the same size tires and it pulls like a dream.

That's exactly what my truck does. Like when I'm not pulling anything I have (what I think to be) plenty of power. But once I get in front of that trailer it's all gone.

I know that this may sound silly but back off the throttle. I have never put my foot to the floor while towing. When I pull my 16ft cargo trailer fully loaded it never revs above 4k. The 5.4 doesn't have to work as hard at low rpms and I find that it accerates better with a trailer at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. When you put your foot to the floor it downshifts a couple gears which results in less power at the top of the power band. This is just my theory, correct me if I'm wrong.

The 5.4 pulls the best with a custom tune IMHO... The tow tune on the edge should make a pretty good difference... My PHP custom 89 tow tune pulled a 5000+ lb boat with 35's and 3:73 gears much better then the factory tune.. The transmission tweaks in the tune made a huge difference. My factory tune honestly made the truck run like slug in all circumstances, especially towing....

I tow with my 4.6 and treat it like I did my past diesels. I have towed 8,000lbs many times. It is slower getting there but it does just fine.

btw its a CCSB 2wd with 3.55 gears.

Did you look at the trailer? MAybe your trailer controller is bleeding current and dragging trailer brakes. All sorts of non truck related issues.
