Default Temporarily Repairing Damaged Windshield?

So came out of work today to find my truck like this at the hands of some inattentive mowers.

The SafeLite in the town I am currently in does not have an available appointment until a week and a few days from now for some reason.

What is the safest way to tape this up to get get to work and back for the next few days? I've searched but only founds stuff relevant to smaller cracks or chips.

You could put some tape on the backside, but really the laminated glass isn't going to fall out.

Search for a local glass shop in your area if you need the windshield quicker. I just had mine replaced at a local shop with an OEM windshield for 250. Could have done aftermarket glass (no F150 overlay) for about 150 if I can remember correctly.

I agree, it's not going to "break" on you. The cracks might grow, and the local police might care (obstructed vision in my state), but it's not going to suddenly fall in your lap.

This may be an LA thinkg, but we have mobile auto glass services that come out to your work or home and fix on an hour or so. Cheaper than shops, too, and the two guys I've used did great work.

Ok, did this just to be safe, thanks!

From what I see the next closest one is about an hour away (I'm not in my home town or school town for the summer...) and I wouldn't be able to take that much time off work unfortunately. Plus would the glass hold up on the highway?

I actually called the police to get a report on this to see if insurance could do anything... they were fine about letting me drive like this (but that doesn't mean that they will all say the same lol).

When I was on the phone with SafeLite they mentioned this to me but then said something about how it wouldn't be available where I am or something.

No clue at all. Police officers looked around the place and think that it flew from a ditch when the mower went over it. Their were pieces of rock in the glass that looked the same as those in the ditch and we were all pretty sure that a person couldn't throw a rock that hard at the window. Plus if it was blatant vandalism, they said it would not be in just the corner of the window.

Thanks for all the info guys.

if you can, try to find a local Pilkington dealer. They are an OEM glass manufacturer and are excellent quality glass. If not, please do make sure that Safelite uses OEM spec'd Carlite glass.

Went on there and the SafeLite I have the later appointment with is the only one listed in this town so I guess that's a good and a bad thing in that I'll get the right replacement but I still have to wait a while to get it lol.
