Tap on passenger side on cold start
I hate to bring up something that's been talked about numerous times but I've been reading everything under the sun. When I start my truck in the morning I can hear what sounds to be a (dry) tapping noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. It lasts maybe 30 seconds. I can also hear it if I stand in front of my truck as if it's echoing through the fan shaft or possibly one of the pulleys. It's done it the last 3 mornings but not this morning. I laid under the front this morning and it also sounds like it's coming from one of the pulleys (maybe bearings). I'm changing plugs Friday and hope it's a loose one but if not then I don't want to start throwing parts at it. Oh and no codes read

Hold your gas pedal down and crank for a few seconds, that will build oil pressure before you start the engine. If no tap when starting, then you may have a leaking tensioner on that side. If it still taps, then we need to keep troubleshooting the issue. Good luck.

Let me mention that I had a new long block installed in 2012 and it has about 70k on it. I know it came with new internal so that's why I was "hoping/leaning" towards a loose plug but I'll find out soon. I'll keep posting and thanks

That sounds very typical of a leaking manifold. Passenger side leak is the most common.
You will likely start to notice the same type of sound under load as well, like on the highway going up a grade.

This. Also a leaky manifold sort of sounds like a lawnmower, that distinct exhaust "pop" albeit not as loud. Check out that and torque your spark plugs back down.

Stay with OEM.

Yeah. I just advise most folks to stay away from anything other than OEM plugs because more often than not we see forum posters coming back with problems that the OEM plugs just don't have, so spend the money once on the right part. Now coils, you can get a good set of eight coils that aren't OEM for the price of one OEM coil (like I did) and they generally work just fine, but not so much with the plugs.

Def went motor craft and it feels like it woke her up a bit. Could definitely see the carbon build up on the old ones. What causes the bottom of the plug to look rusty ?
