Talk Me In To Or Out Of Changing My Level
Howdy gang,
I've currently got a 2" level on my 2005 2wd. Also, currently running 285/70/17s on stock rims.
On my next set of tires, I plan to try out either some 295/70/17s or 285/75/17s, so a little bit bigger.
Also, the front of my truck sits at 37.25", and the rear at 38 even, so there is .75" difference; which will come in later.
While searching for the tires, I got the spark to start looking at 2.5" leveling kits. Here's the thing, though, I do tow some stuff and put a few hundred pounds in the bed quite regularly, and the 2" allows for me to use the aforementioned .75" without looking like I'm squatting. The 2.5 would theoretically only give me .25" before I looked squatty. So, my next step was to look at rear blocks.
Here's where y'all can help out. If I go with the 2.5 level, I feel like I am gonna want a rear block in the back, to "make up" for the level, I'll be honest, I like a little rake. However, I feel like a stock 4x4 block would give me way too much rake. I've found some 1" blocks online and am curious if anyone has installed them. The 1" would give me (if my math is correct) 1.25" of rake. My situation is a little different from most of y'all running 4 wheel drives because our 2 wheelers sit lower in the front stock. I know this is all a game of a matter of fractions of an inch and that it comes down to personal preference in the end, I'm just paranoid about it looking like she's nosediving!
So here's my final question: Should I
(a) Leave it alone and quit worrying
(b) Buy the 2.5 level w/ no block
or (c) buy the 2.5 level, 1" block and see how it looks
Thanks for the input, post pics if ya got em!
EDIT: Here's a picture how she stands now

I'm not real familiar with the rear setup of the 2wd, but don't they have a block under the leaf springs in the back? If they do then you can't just add a 1" block, as stacking blocks is not recommended. Personally I'd just stick with the 2" if you're worried about squatting when you're towing. If you don't tow that often then I'd go with the 2.5 and just deal with the little bit of squat when you tow. If you absolutely don't want to squat but want the 2.5 then I'd suggest helper bags in the back so you can air up the back and take the squat out.

Thanks a ton for the input and suggestion!

She looks mean haha! Part of me is saying "Screw it, buy it and put it on, worst case take it off and resell it!"
On a sidenote, was just looking at your build thread and saw your rear speaker "jacks". That is something I have been wanting to do forever but had not seen a clean way to do it. Looks great!

Thanks! Haha. My dad actually pitched the idea to me since I had been looking at building a sound system to fit in the toolbox for quite a while.

Have you looked at an add-a-leaf?

I looked at add-a-leafs, but I'm not really into the stiffer ride. I know that they are more functional in that they keep the back up, whereas blocks will just make it appear higher. I like the way it sits too, I guess the bug of always wanting to go higher is trying to bite me haha!
