hey everyone, i was wondering if anyone has had a chance to see if the new style f 150 tailgates are interchangeable with the earlier model f 150s 04 to 08. i have an 06 and would love to swap a 2011 tailgate on

I don't know if it would fit but I've noticed the new tailgates have the little flare at the top that goes all the way across the top so it might not look right.

Don't think the mold lines will match up...it should go on and work though.

Has anybody done this, 09+ tailgate on our style?

They don't line up at all. It'll fit but the 09+ tailgate will stick out further than your box does and it doesn't look nice

Not a great pic, but this shows how the horizontal lines of the 09+ tailgate don't really flow with the smooth lines of the 04-08 body. Also, the 'ducktail' at the top of the 09+ tailgate protrudes out past the bodyline about the taillights. I've seen one in person, and it looked like hell. Just my 2 cents.
