Usually not one to pitch products but, I put in an 'ezdown' damper on my 05 tailgate. It actually works good, opens nice and smooth and not too slow, the cable doesn't bind up either. Glad I bought it, $40 on amazon. Shuts up the Toyota friend now. If I had to do it again, I would take my tailight out and spray the bolt with pb a few days ahead. I actually snapped mine off, but got it on the light side with vicegrips luckily.

I've been looking at these a little bit now and was wondering a few things. This is probably stupid because they are gas but, do they go down any slower in really cold weather? Once installed, how easy is it to get your tailgate off?
Not bashing anyone with one, but the tailgate on these things are soo light. Lighter than the Ranger. I would just want one for show.

I can literally take it off in 30 sec, just clips on. It's 22 degrees here and it doesn't change how it opens. It is for show and when my girl opens it, just trying to stay interested in my 6yr old truck.

I've had a lot of people take a double take when i drop my tailgate. Everyone that's seen it really likes it. Funny thing is that they all ask if it makes closing it any harder. (answer is no)

One of the favorite things I've done to my truck. (and cheapest)

There website says it doesn't fit 4 door, but realtruck doesn't say anything about it not working on supercrews. Anyone know if they work on an 05 Supercrew? I don't see why they wouldn't

The ebay site I was on doesn't say anything about four doors, it shouldn't matter at all.
