Honestly, I get good prices from a buddy that is a dealer. So I always use them because it is considered by a lot to be the best, and because I get a discount. He has a 2000 page book that has testing on different vehicles with all different brands of oils and amsoil comes out on top out of any. Whether those tests were tweaked or not, it is damn good oil if not the best.

I think they are both great oils, but Amsoil is the best... If I couldn't get my hands on Amsoil then I would definitely be running royal purple.

I'm in the same boat. Not sure what previous owner used. I'm 4.6l 137k miles. Sticker says to change at 138.7k miles. So it's getting changed soon, any recommendations? I normally use 20-50w castrol gtx high mileage on my other truck but it had close to 380k miles lol.
