Default Swapping 07 mustang radio in 07 f150 problems

Swapped factory am/fm with a am/fm single cd from 07 mustang.
1) No longer have illumination (have clock and channel though)
2) I want to wire in Motorola IHF 1000 and need pinout.

Why do I not have the illumination any more?
The only thing I have been able to find on the net is that the radio may receives a signal from the data bus to turn it up and down?
Does anyone have the pinout for the 16 and 24 pin plugs on back of radio?( trying to find which one controls the mute feature on front of radio)

Thanks Jim

I've entered this a bunch of times; folks dislike using the search I guess. Here is the color code for the large harness for the Ford Stereo used in the 2004 to 2008 trucks and mustangs. You can also visit the radio and audio forum and search there:

24 pin
Green/purple - radio 12 volts
black/lt green - radio ground
black - ground
pink/black or pink/yellow - radio ignition (12 volts when key is on)
blue/red - radio illumination
green/purple - factory amp (12 volts)
grey/black - speed sensor (increase/decrease volume)
orange/lt green - left front speaker +
blue/white - left front speaker -
white/lt green - right front speaker +
dark green/orange - right front speaker -
grey/lt blue - left rear speaker +
tan/yellow - left rear speaker -
orange/red - right rear speaker +
brown/pink - right rear speaker -

16 pin (audiophile for rear stock woofer)
Dark green/violet - sub amp enable
black/orange - ground
violet/lt blue - voltage supply at all times
brown/orange - sub woofer signal +
red/black - sub woofer signal -
black - shield

Hey Bucko!
Appreciate it very much.
Any idea on how the mute works?
Thought there might be a lead that I tap into to allow the motorola unit to mute volume of radio?
Any thoughts on why no background illumination on radio?
With the wiring pinout I can at least try applying power to blue/red lead assuming it's +!

With thanks
Jim

The mute function is within the radio itself; there is no "external" wire you can tap into.

IIRC, there is a dealer flash that can fix the Mustang illumination issue.

Which radio did you get? I've got the 06 F150 and Stang diagrams.

OK, I see what's going on now. The Mustang's illumination, VSS, etc is run by can bus via the 16 pin connector (which is only the Aux on the F150s). You're SOL without getting it reprogrammed. It will probably be cheaper to buy another one.

This should be the 8 pin. The 16 pin is for the AUX functions (Sirius, RSE and Line In)
