My guess is from Korea somewhere, but I don't have the list of IPs used available to me (working on that...). Don't go to any of the links, especially at work, if you like your job.

I doubt it. The same type of posts also hit Yahoo!, MSN, Dailymotion, and others within the timeframe, linking to the same sites. Most likely professional hackers.

lol i was kidding
Actually, it's quite easy to just spam a page. you can create a script to randomize a set of "user names" and passwords. Then they all post and link back to the same, usually virus filled, IP. Usually, most forums run off similar architecture, so it's easy to hit multiple forums at the same time. This type of attack is just an annoyance. They didn't get into any accounts or execute a DoS attack on the site in general.

Yeah, anyone can do that. It's just a wonder how they were able to easily verify all the accounts so quickly, especially across multiple sites. Makes me think it was the combined effort of a bot and a team of humans. I think they were professional hackers due to the list of sites being used. I want to look more into it, but not at work. I do cyber security for a living and would lose all credibility if I got this network infected :-)

haha I know what you mean, I'm an IT professional myself. Too bad I left my thumbdrive at home...I have Ubuntu loaded onto it and use is as a VM to see where these IP's link back to. Just load from external vs loading windows off the hard drive. If anything goes wrong, just wipe the thumb drive lol
