Default Supercharging a 05' FX4 5.4

So I have a few questions..

I have a buddy who has a 05' Supercrew FX4 with the 5.4. He is wanting to go all out and do a Supercharger on his truck...

I'm not to familiar with the better kits and everything to go with it.

He is thinking about maybe the Roush Stage 3 kit that has the innercooler.

Someone suggested the Magnacharger is a better kit if he's willing to dump that much coin.

So, what kits would you guys suggest doing?

What all would he need to complete the build? What does he need to upgrade on his motor and truck to get the most of the supercharger?

What about the tranny? I've heard both sides. If your on the SC alot you'll blow the tranny up but some people are running stock tranny and it's fine. He can get the tranny rebuilt for $1800 to handle the HP the SC will make..

Anything else? What kind of cash are we talking about going all out?

He will also do E-fans and LT headers as he already has hi-flows.

Thanks.

personally, i like the roush superchargers. because they only make stuff for fords. so you know its gonna fit good and work right. most kits will come with everything you need but tell him to check with the seller to find out. he will need custom tunes once its on there so if he has a programmer now, set it to stock and sell it. as for the trans., good luck with that. a lot of the 04-05's have problems anyways (such as my 05 that has 58,000 miles and is on its 3rd transmission). i would say to take about $10,000 for everything and he should come out with some change.

10k is about what he was thinking..

The kit includes bigger injectors and such also?

His truck is around 90k miles and no tranny problems at all..

heres a short list:
Completely forged internals (rods, pistons, cam, etc...)
Full intake and exhaust
programmer with a custom tune (custom after the SC)
Intercooler w/ piping.
Upgraded injectors and fuel rail/pump
Racing transmission rated at a minimum of 500HP and 600 lb ft of torque.
built driveline
Re-gearing in the rear end.

^ I thought the 04-08 5.4 has forged internals and that's why you can run a SC without having to build the motor to much?

when you do a cam, which i reccomend, i would swap lifters and rods and springs and **** like that. you should be fine on everything else. and when i said full exhaust, that includes headers too. beacause stock manifolds suck ***.

Well, seems like I keep repeating myself but here goes. I just put Roush's basic kit on my '04 FX4 screw. Paid 2400.00 for kit. It comes complete with everything you need. Programmer and CAI.

The internals in the 5.4 that this package is for, are FORGED already, otherwise Roush doesn't recommend it.

You don't change the injectors or fuel pump. Everything is stock cept the intake.

The "Very Conservative" rating on the kit is 112HP and 112TQ but i'm seeing more like 150 HP and 180 TQ gains to the fly wheel. 2nd gear rockets you to 90 mph very fast!!

The kit is rated for 5psi I think but I'm seeing between 7 and 8 psi most of the time. Your stock tranny can handle this as long as you don't race it all day and use the towing mode when towing.

If you want more power and go for the big kit which is 10psi, the kit comes with new injectors and fuel pump and you will eventually be dumping some money in the Tranny.

I"m seeing some very nice numbers for 2400.00 plus 500.00 or so for incidentals (gauges and tools). The big kit costs twice as much and you will only see 50-75 more HP. Plus the expence of modding the tranny to accomidate the added power. For 2400.00 I"m seeing 450 HP and 515 TQ at the fly wheel and that isn't too shabby for that price.

The personal accounts stated above are factual and not exaggerated but the rest is hearsay from other experienced peeps (Roush, folks that own Roush charger).
