Yes but you need to take out the front drive shaft. Doesn't matter if 4x4 is engaged or not

I bought a complete intercooled kit on eBay for $2100. I thought it was a great deal considering some of the other used ones are going for $3500 or even more. I ordered new gaskets and air filter for $120 and also a roush psi gauge and pod for another $120. I feel I got a great deal. Supposedly the seller pulled it off his f150 before he traded it off in hopes of using it again. Been keeping my eyes on the part sales on f150forum and eBay for a charger and finally pulled the trigger.

Good deal in my book. I'd be tempted just to resell the whole kit for profit

Trust me, I've thought about it but I doubt I run into another charger for that price as long it is what he says it is so I'll keep it. Lots of work ahead of me but looking forward to it being done. I'll get the gears done within two weeks and from the sounds of it that will make a lot of difference too.

I know its risky and I need to be careful with the extra power but anyone have any experience or thoughts on adding this supercharger to a truck with 115K? Any one with experience installing the Roush Intercooled Kit? Part number 401633.
I put my whipple kit on at 160k miles and have had zero engine or tranny issues.. I'm also leveled on 35x12.5 r20's.. I'm boosting at 9psi which is plenty but conservative, I might swap pulleys or go with a metco lower crank pulley to get a bit more boost out of her.
I'm at 190k now and there is no sign of trouble at all. Just run a good quality oil, and get a catch can to keep your intercooler core clean and dry.
Go with the blower you got, great deal btw. $2100 is a great price..

I would definitely recommend gears to help the transmission live an easier life, but motor wise you should be solid..
Check my profile for my supercharger build thread for pics and info..

I like the catch can mod. I can't believe the amount of crud that thing catches. Crazy. I got the kit Friday and looks like I need to call Roush on Monday to order a list of minor components (hoses, connectors, brackets, etc). Hopefully they don't cost me an arm and a leg. I can't wait to complete this - the additional power is going to be so nice.

It's good to hear that you installed a supercharger on a higher mileage 5.4. Did you do a gear swap for the larger tires? I hope to have the 4.88s in soon.

I'm running a factory 3.73 with an open diff.. No issues burning the tires and the truck takes off like a raped ape if floor it.. Otherwise the truck is extremely well mannered and the best daily driving experience imaginable.

The highways are fun, it looks like everybody throws there car in park when I get on the highway, or pass...
For the highway I would recommend you don't go too crazy with your gear selection. Just remember that the supercharger is going to get your truck moving by bringing the power to weight ratio into more of a balance.. Even with 38" tires I might say a 4.11 or 4.56 gear max would be more than adequate to get your wheels turning. 3.73's with 35's are honestly not bad at all, and I'm getting 18.5 - 20 mpg's highway when I'm being a more tactical and balanced driver with boost.. Since you say your truck is more of a pavement princess, I'd recommend you go forward with the blower first, than match the gears up to your power curve later..
For the blower kit:
These components are highly recommended..
1. Wideband 02 with gauge.. I use AEM
2. Boost guage.. AEM for me here too
3.Autolite HT0 plugs.
4.A solid tune from JDM engineering on the SCT platform.
5.A set of highflow cats..
6. 2 new front factory 02 sensors. For optimal performance.
7. I would call Roush and get the install instructions, and order a new bolt kit and find out if your missing any parts from their kit..
8. Bigger injectors.. 47# or 60# will leave you with plenty of room to grow, and tune it right the first time..
See where that gets you, and you can mod it further with things like bigger MAF sensors and bigger throttle body's later.
There's plenty to go over, and VMP tuning has a nice MAF breakout harness that will extend your MAF harness wires and remove your MAF IAT sensor all in one shot without cutting.. I do believe the roush kit does include a relocated IAT sensor which is nice touch..
Good luck! And keep us updated.,

Also...
If you go with too tall of a gear, you will need to remain committed to 38" tires, a harder tire size to find IMHO. Should you ever want to step down in size a touch you may want to re-gear a bit more conservatively. Once you put the blower on, you may find that a more all terrain tire will bode the best traction over an MT or an AT/MT hybrid.. I know for me I had 35" general grabber red letters; and being blown, rain traction and icy snow became very touchy driving situations in 2wd.. Of course 4wd was a whole different story. But now with my me toyo AT2 extremes the truck hooks up 10x better, and highway speeds north of the legal limit are also rock solid.. Just something to consider before you make the final gear decision. Your options for 38" tires are slim and far from cheap. A 37" or 36" tire might offer a better array of tire choices.. Believe me, the right tire while laying down over 400 rwhp will be something you will be wanting to consider after you go blown..

I'm glad to hear you have 35s with the 3.73s. I am holding off on the gear swap but will be reluctant to really get on the truck with the supercharger knowing I could damage the gears/tranny with that size of tire. The next tire I go with will probably be a 37 cause I'm not real happy with the Toyo Open Country's I'm running now so maybe I could go lower on the gears and not go to the 4.88.

I got the HT0 plugs installed and I believe 47 or 48# injectors on the way. Also installed a boost gauge. I will check into the sensors and other gauage like you said. I hope to have everything I need from Roush by Wednesday and I'll get after it then. Intake manifold is off just waiting on a few misc parts. I had the PCM shipped to Roush and they programmed it with their tune. I don't know much about that part of it but I do know I have an EDGE programmer for it, and hope to still be able to utilize it to program gear ratios and tire size, but Roush nor EDGE has been able to tell me for certain if I will be able to do that. I know the last thing I want to do is re-flash what they have done. Any advice on that portion of it?

I'm holding off on gears for a bit due to the $$$ I dropped on this supercharger. I am going to be very reluctant to really get on the thing knowing I could do damage to something with that tire size.
