X2
Both my truck and the wife's car have remote start, letting them run for 25-30 in the morning is killing mileage. But it's better than freezing my @$$ off!

What exactly is normal supposed to be? I just bought a 2004 F150 SuperCab with 5.4L engine, 2WD. 3:55 rear end.

I'm getting around 14 MPG, in fact just under 14. I attribute that to carrying around sand in the back due to all the snow we've been getting hammered with, but I thought I'd get at least 15 around town, 19 on the highway.

I'll have to clean the MAF as was mentioned. I added the K & N air filter with little change so far. I'm getting a tonneau next week, hope it helps some.

Love the truck, just hoped for a wee bit better gas mileage.

ive seen several people say that they lost gas mileage when they lifted their truck. you may not have lost. check your speedo. it may just look like you lost.( speedo is slower than should be not turning enough miles, so your actually running the same distance just doesnt appear to be on numbers). the reason i say this is because my truck has smaller than the stock tires by one number. i thought my speedo felt fast and i had it checked on several of those street radars and sure enough it is.

I'm new to Ford. I have an '05 Screw. 5.4L

What and where is the MAF? How should I clean? My MPG is fairly low.

I know about the spark plug issue so I'll find an experienced hand to help me with that one.

I had this issue come up a couple months ago. I was getting 12.5mpg one tank, 10mpg the next, and 8mpg the next tank. I have a '04 f150 5.4L with 66k on it. I replaced the fuel filter and took it in to the dealership for new plugs. The mechanic at the dealership noticed the rough idle. I bought it 6 months ago and noticed the rough idle back then, but it ran great, decent fuel economy, and other trucks I test drove had the same loud, rough idle, so I figured it was typical.
The dealership ended up replacing the rocker arms and cam phasers. Fortunately I had purchased the extended service plan from the dealership so all the work only cost me a $100 deduct. $1,700 was the price tag without the warranty. I paid $300 for the plugs (none broke off).
My milage is now around 13.5 city.
I still think it sounds like a blacksmith pounding away under the hood but it idles smooth. Taking it back to the dealership for another look since it's under warranty.
Hope your issue is something cheaper to fix.
