Default Stronger hood struts??

Just put a steel cowl hood on my truck today that I picked up off of craiglist yesterday, SCORE! The problem I'm having now is this hood is a little heavier and the hood struts aren't strong enough. I had it come down on my back today and that was no fun....

Here's a couple pics I snapped after installing it today.

Those both look real good. A hood may be going onto my short list for future mods

I figured with all of the aftermarket hoods that I see on the pic threads that someone would have upgraded the struts by now... Anyone?

I haven't replaced them yet, but from research I saw that some people went to an autoparts store and asked or a dealer

You could just buy a prop rod and use that to hold it open

that could work too, but on my hood when I pull the hood latch it doesn't pop up like normal, so really I have to have someone lift the hood as I pull the latch and then open the hood

Contact the guys at Liftsupportsdepot.com. They can hook you up with a set that can support more weight.

It looks like my hood should weigh about 75lbs by finding another one like it on Amazon. I hit up liftsupportsdepot and they suggested these: http://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/str...-strut-49010w/

I just tried them and they are too short. Looks like I'm back to the drawing board...
