Yep.

If you can source one now, recommend a Motorcraft fer best reliability.

If not Dorman will do. Ensure the standoffs are used.

The studs that are pictured. Keeps the fpdm up off the frame and helps it from not corroding like they usually do.

In the pic above -the items on the left. They separate the new FPDM from the crossmember, reducing the chance of subsequent corrosion.

Like so:

Doorman uses rubber ones.

(Are you mobile and not seeing the images I'm attaching?)

Give the FPDM a jostle and a tap while someone keeps the truck running. If this proves the FPDM is the culprit, try and tie a rag or a zip tie around it to keep it oriented appropriately for function to make it home.

The fpdm doesn't move at all when I try to move it. Looks corroded idt I saw it was spaced away from the cross member though. Has anyone wrapped in in electrical tape or done any mods to prevent this in the future? I can see the pictures thanks

Hi.

Without removing it to inspect the back, you can't be sure it isn't similarly corroded ( with the PCB exposed) like the one pictured above in screw4us's post. Even a tiny pinhole will allow water to enter - rendering it inop.

Don't wrap a new one in tape - it needs to breathe (the backplate is a heatsink). A light coat of Fluid Film will suffice.

They should be inspected (and the area cleaned) seasonally - when you do yer spare tire / winch maintenance. Everyone does that, right?

The only Mod I know will work is to relocate the unit into the cab - bolted directly to the rear cab wall. Requires harness fabrication.

Carry a spare to avoid being stranded.

Thanks mgd! Waiting till 9 to get the part when the store opens.(if they have it) if not I can have it Tuesday from Amazon. That's two missed days of work though. Is this something commonly carried in stock? Price range?

Hi.

Depends on the parts outlet - some places do carry stock. I've seen them at most all the major storefronts. Usually less than $100 for Dorman. Motorcrafts will be 50%-100% more - especially from a Dealer.

Don't thank us yet - it's not 100% certain to be the solution until you've tried it, lol.

Praying that it is, though....

good luck
