Default stock stereo aux input?

04 f150 FX4 stock stereo has an aux button. was wondering what type of connector it accepts or if it was just for like a cd changer or something strictly ford? havent pulled the stereo yet, figured i would ask the f150 experts...lol

thanks for your replies in advance.

There might be an AUX 3.5mm input in the top of the dashboard in the center. It would control that if you have it.

I do not have one. Is there any way to run a iPod on it?

Outside of your obvious choices of FM transmitters or aftermarket radios, you might be able to find a way to hook it out to the CD changer port if your stock radio has one.

I used to install stereos professionally. There are aftermarket parts that are used to connect Ipods to factory radios. I know a company called "Peripheral" makes one that i Prefer. I should cost you between 30-50 bucks for the part and around 30 buck to install if you dont want to do it yourself. However, it is a plug and play piece, so if you can get your radio out, you should be able to do it yourself and save some money. Go to any local, reputable car stereo shop in your area and they should be able to set you up.

aux is useless in our 150s basicly expect later models, the 04 and 05 I know have no aux plug, but go to crutchfield and look their, their are a few cable for our trucks, make sure you order the right one. Will be like 150 for the cable, very easy to install just take off the trim around your radio, just pull them unbolt the radio itself, 6mm maybe havent done it in awhile 6 or 7 mm it is. Then its plug and play and run the wire where you want it.

There is a free plug on the back side of the radio for the Auxiliary input, from factory this plug is to be use with the rear DVD system or satellite radio, the f150 radio was install in the explorer and expedition,
in your case if there is an AUX button and MP3 logo under the CD
you can use this aux adapter

there are some Ford Radios 2004 2005 that don't have the mp3 logo also in the F250 and F350 in that case you need the PIE FRD04-AUX

This aux adapter are easy to install and the sound quality its great
this is for aux audio only but there are iPod adapters for the same radio available

I have the radio WITH the aux on the panel. (Haven't looked in the rear YET.)
Anyone have an idea what the cable looks like? PIC? Maybe a link as to who sells it?
Heck I might even have one in my junk pile.
Thanks in advance

I have an ‘06 F-150. The ‘aux’ button on the radio, in mine anyway, activates SiriusXM sat radio. Essentially going from radio or CD... to SiriusXM... back to radio or CD. I don’t have a port anywhere and do want to figure out a way short of buying a new replacement unit.
