Default Twin Turbo 5.4 3V?

Howdy y'all, been here a while and I've done a search but couldn't find anyone that had actually done this. I'm getting close to graduation from college and seeing potential salaries for engineering so I'm starting to dream, maybe a little too big. Lol. I've started thinking about getting more power from my truck and don't really like the sound of a supercharger whining. This has led me to look into a turbo setup, primarily twin turbo (but not dead set on it since I don't know what gains that would have over a single turbo). I can't seem to find anyone that has done a twin turbo on these engines, or even a single turbo. Seems everyone goes with superchargers over turbos. Is it possible to twin turbo this engine?

I know it'll cost more than a supercharger, but it'll be different than what everyone else is running. From what I can figure I'll need more room under the hood so I'd be switching to e-fans which will open up a lot of space in the engine bay. Right now this is all speculation, but power will be added in some way after graduation whether it's through turbos or if I decide I can deal with supercharger whine and go with either an e-force charger, procharger, or a whipple.

Turbo's are bad, just ask all of the Ecoboost haters.

Can the earlier 5.4 blocks even handle a turbo? I have a 2004 and was thinking of doing the same some day..

OK so i did some googling... I'm really bored at work if you cant tell..

From what I'm reading, YES the 5.4 3v can handle twin turbo. There are plenty of kits made specifically for the 2004-2008 f150. BUT there's a few things to know like how much psi to run.

My understanding is that a single turbo can be run up to 11psi without changing rods and pistons. Any higher psi or 2nd turbo requires more work be done to the engine so she doesn't blow.

I'm still searching and reading up but here's a few guys who know:

Any engine can be turbo or supercharged.

The only question is how much boost can the engine handle. A stock engine will need a lower boost, meaning less added power.

I don't see why it wouldn't be able to handle low boost (7-10psi) since that's what a supercharger puts out. The block isn't really the weak point from what I can find. The weak point I've seen through my research is the rods and Pistons. But still shouldn't cause a problem at low pressure.

Yup that's pretty much what I'm finding. After that then it's the tranny but that's only if your going with a twin setup or really cranking up the psi. From what in finding most of the kits (single turbo) come already set at about 9-10psi and are pretty straight forward

Only thing I've seen close to a turbo kit is the procharger kits. Where have you found single turbo kits?

May want to wait until you secure such a job. College likes to fill students heads with unrealistic salaries... But speaking from a truck point of view go for it.

I probably shouldn't have said "kit" lol the only complete kit i've found (in my 15-20min search) is for 1997-2003 and found here: http://www.cruizinconcepts.com/detai...d=TP-4654TR-TI

I've found other partial kits, or kits that come with everything but the turbo itself but
I'm not looking very hard and have never looked into this before so don't take my word for anything lol I also haven't saved any of the countless pages I've gone through so some info i don't know if ill be able to find it again
