Default steering rack removal

I can't seem to find any help on removal of the steering rack and power steering pump. I'm not sure where to begin on either. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

I can tell you about the power steering pump, if you have a 5.4, there are 3 10mm bolts that hold it on, loosen or take the top 2 out, then go at the bottom one underneath, as the bottom one loosens, pull the pump away from the engine and continue to loosen the bottom on until it comes out. You have to keep pulling the pump away from the engine to give you room to get the lower bolt out. Takes time, slow patience, short stubby open end wrench works best.
As far as the rack, I believe it is only 4 bolts that go through the rack into the cross member, but you do have the tie rods connected to it.
Good luck

i got the tie rods removed. I was having problem with intermittent power steering but now I'm thinking it might be the steering shaft.

Have you greased or lubed the shaft (forgot the actual name of it) that comes from the firewall to the gearbox? It has joints that bind up, lubing with good grease seems to help that issue a lot.

I would remove the steering shaft first. When those u joints bind up they feel like you have no power steering or no steering in certain spots.

You remove it then spray the crap of it with PB Blaster then coat in grease.
or
Buy a new shaft from Rock Auto.

I do not have to tell which will be cheaper, both will take the same amount of time
