Default Steering in 4X4 High

Should steering be tight in 4 hi? I was playing around in the snow this afternoon and noticed that if I tried to make any tight turns the steering felt stiff. Is this normal, something that should be concerning?

Thanks!

Can I turn as tight as normal, or will it hurt it. Sorry for the dumb questions I really dont feel like damaging anything from my ignorance.
