Standard 08 F150 4.2L V6 Studder/Shudder Between 1000 and 2000 RPM
This started up about a month ago. I came home for lunch and my truck was running fine. When I went to leave to go back to work it shuddered slightly in reverse when backing out of the driveway. I assumed maybe I had let off the clutch a bit too soon but when I put it in first gear it shuddered again getting up to speed. It does this in first, second, and third gear until I reach about 2000 RPM and it evens out.
I would have gotten this looked at sooner but I found that if I waited until about 3000 RPM to shift to the next gear the shudder would go away completely for a while. Well, it has returned and I can't seem to get it to go away again.
I have changed the spark plugs and wires, as well as oil and oil filter, in an attempt to fix the problem but so far no luck.
I have scoured the internet but every similar problem I find is a different engine. I have tried disconnecting the EGR to see if that is the issue, no such luck. My next step is to change the camshaft position sensor in an attempt to solve this issue but something tells me that's probably not going to do the trick and I don't want to keep spending money swapping parts trying to figure out the issue.
Does anyone have any ideas about what's going on?

Have you checked for any pending codes?

I pulled codes when the problem started about a month ago. The codes said there was a miss in cylinder 2. I changed plugs shortly after that but the problem persisted for a while. The problem did not stop until I began shifting gears around 3000 RPM. However, it returned today, after about 2 weeks with little issue, so I changed the wires with no success in stopping the shudder.

How old mileage wise is the clutch? What you describe can also be "hot spots" on the surface of the flywheel. The only way to repair that is to have the flywheel removed and re-surfaced.

I bought the truck used with 108,000 miles on it. I would imagine there's as many miles on the clutch. I've since put 6000 on it in the year and three months I've had it. I'm going to attempt a replacement of the coil and if that isn't it I'll try the flywheel. Thank you for the input.
